65% of 4th graders are reading below their grade level, which contributes to a higher dropout  rate in high school. Along with 34% of kids entering kindergarten lack the basic skills needed to learn how to read. Reading is Fundamental wants to lower those numbers.  This organization feels that all children should have the ability to own books, so they hope to reach their goal of 422 million books distributed.
