History of Project Life

There are some people who let the world pass them by, never taking the steps to ensure that no one gets left behind.  Then there are those that fight to help those in need and bring awareness to the growing problem.  Project Life is based on these people and their principles.

It all started in the summer of 2000, a group of high school students were together at Leadership Camp.  They saw a problem and decided that they were going to take action against it.  At the time all they had was a name (Project Life) and an idea.  That idea was the prevention of suicide.

Now, almost seven years later we have a list of directives and a plan.  Since that fateful day in July of 2000, when a handful of kids stepped up to the plate and took action, our state has dropped two "rungs" in the list ranking the number of suicides by state.  The state of Montana was once number one, we are now number three.  The new group of Key Clubbers that has adopted the mission of Project Life wishes to lower that number even more.  But we cannot do it alone.

Every 17 seconds someone attempts suicide... Every 17 minutes someone succeeds.
