Ghost Outs

1st:  Clear this with the administration and teachers.  With out their help this will not work.

2nd:  Select 11 kids from your high school.  This number represents how many kids, 15-24, die each day because they have committed suicide.  These kids should be ones that you can trust to stay quiet.  Pick a day that doesn't have many tests, Fridays work best.

3rd:  Have the kids wear either all black or dark clothing to school that day.  You might want to paint their faces white to maximize the effect.  Instruct the kids that volunteered and the staff that the kids are not to talk and are not to be spoken to for that whole day, or sometimes just after lunch works too.

4th:  The idea is that these kids are "dead".  They cannot talk and are not to interact with ANY ONE.   It is really hard to do, that's why they need to be people that you can trust to care about this.

5th: At the end of the day you should have an assembly to talk about suicide and it's effect on the community, this talk should be given by a qualified adult.  Topics and Facts are available.

Every 17 seconds someone attempts suicide... Every 17 minutes someone succeeds.
